Why Akepox 5010 Is Specified Across the GCC

Stone fabrication and installation work across the Gulf region presents conditions that most standard adhesives are not built for. Temperatures in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman regularly push above 40 degrees Celsius on site, and substrate surfaces can reach significantly higher temperatures when exposed to direct sun. Higher temperatures accelerate curing and reduce the product’s working time. At 20°C, the working time is approximately 20 to 30 minutes, while the technical data sheet lists approximately 10 to 15 minutes at 30°C. Installers should plan applications around the actual site temperature and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Akepox 5010 is a solvent-free, gel-like, two-component epoxy repair mortar based on an epoxy resin with a cycloaliphatic polyamine hardener. The gel-like consistency provides high creep resistance, helping the adhesive remain in position during application on suitable vertical surfaces. Higher temperatures accelerate curing, so fabricators and installation teams working in GCC summer conditions should plan applications around the actual site and surface temperature and work in manageable sections.

At 20°C, bonded parts can be moved after approximately 6 to 8 hours and further processed after approximately 12 to 16 hours. Maximum stability is reached after approximately 7 days. The technical data sheet lists temperature stability of approximately 60 to 70°C for bonded parts exposed to weight and approximately 100 to 110°C for bonded parts not exposed to weight. These values apply to the specified bonding conditions and should not be treated as general service-temperature ratings.

Non-Yellowing Formula for Light-Colored Stone

AKEPOX 5010 has a very low tendency to yellow after curing, making it suitable for light-colored natural and artificial stone where appearance is important. The product also supports color matching with compatible AKEPOX coloring pastes or concentrates, which can be added at up to 5% by weight.
